Primary Skills
These Primary Skills are ones that every hero has, regardless of type. The pictures shown below are the ones in the top row on the hero status screen.

This skill affects how much damage a hero's troops do in battle. The hero's attack is added to the troops' attack levels, and they do more damage. |

The hero's defense rating affects how much damage his troops will be able to sustain in battle. His defense is added to that of the troops, making them harder to defeat. |

This Primary Skill represents the spell-casting skill of the hero. Each higher level of spell power makes spell effects (Blind, Paralyze, etc.) last longer (1 level= lasts 1 round) or how much damage spells do. Check the Spells sections for more information on the multipliers. |

This skill determines the number of spell points a hero can have. For 1 level of knowledge, the hero gets 10 spell points (or mana). In some situations, the hero's spell points can be increased temporarily regardlesss of knowledge level. |

Shows the total bonus or penalty to the army's Morale. Clicking on the picture brings up the current morale modifiers. For more information on how Morale works, check the General Strategy section. |

If you click on this picture, you will get a little window telling you about the hero's experience, such as the current experience level, and how much experience is needed to go up another level. If you do not click on the picture, it will show a number, which is the total accumulated experience so far. |

Shows the current maximum number of spell points a hero can have, based on his knowledge. It also shows how many magic points the hero currently has, out of the maximum. Note that through certain events, it is possible to temporarily increase the maximum number of spell points, regardless of the hero's knowledge level. |
The table below gives the percentage chance of learning a primary skill when going up a level. For the first nine levels heroes tend to be specialized in one or two skills, but at tenth level and beyond they tend to generalize more.
