Secondary Skills

There are 28 secondary skills in Heroes of Might and Magic 3. I have divided them how I think most logical, by the situations in which they are useful.

Adventure Skills

Diplomacy
Increases the chance wandering armies will offer to join the hero's army and lowers the cost of surrendering to another hero.
Basic Diplomacy Basic Effect: 25% of creatures normally fleeing from your army will offer to join you. Cost of surrendering is reduced by 20%.
Advanced Diplomacy Advanced Effect: 50% of creatures normally fleeing from your army will offer to join you. Cost of surrendering is reduced by 40%.
Expert Diplomacy Expert Effect: All creatures normally fleeing from your army will offer to join you. Cost of surrendering is reduced by 60%.
Estates
The hero produces gold for their kingdom's resource pool.
Basic Estates Basic Effect: 125[gold] per day is generated.
Advanced Estates Advanced Effect: 250[gold] per day is generated.
Expert Estates Expert Effect: 500[gold] per day is generated.
Learning
Increases the amount of experience a hero gains from combat, treasure chests, quests, etc.
Basic Learning Basic Effect: Earned experience is increased by 5%.
Advanced Learning Advanced Effect: Earned experience is increased by 10%.
Expert Learning Expert Effect: Earned experience is increased by 15%.
Logistics
Hero's land movement is increased.
Basic Logistics Basic Effect: Movement is increased by 10%.
Advanced Logistics Advanced Effect: Movement is increased by 20%.
Expert Logistics Expert Effect: Movement is increased by 30%.
Navigation
Increases the hero's movement over water.
Basic Navigation Basic Effect: Water movement is increased by 50%.
Advanced Navigation Advanced Effect: Water movement is increased by 100%.
Expert Navigation Expert Effect: Water movement is increased by 150%.
Necromancy
When the hero wins a battle, a portion of the opposition killed is resurrected as Skeletons and added to the hero's army.
Basic Necromancy Basic Effect: 10% of enemy creatures killed are resurrected.
Advanced Necromancy Advanced Effect: 20% of enemy creatures killed are resurrected.
Expert Necromancy Expert Effect: 30% of enemy creatures killed are resurrected.
Pathfinding
Reduces the movement penalty suffered by the hero when moving over rough terrain.

Scouting
Increases the hero's view radius, which expands the area of the Adventure Map revealed as the hero travels into unknown territory.
Basic Scouting Basic Effect: Hero's view radius is increased by 1 square.
Advanced Scouting Advanced Effect: Hero's view radius is increased by 2 squares.
Expert Scouting Expert Effect: Hero's view radius is increased by 3 squares.

Combat Skills

Archery
Increases the damage done by ranged attackers in the hero's army.
Basic Archery Basic Effect: Ranged attack damage is increased by 10%.
Advanced Archery Advanced Effect: Ranged attack damage is increased by 25%.
Expert Archery Expert Effect: Ranged attack damage is increased by 50%.
Armorer
Reduces the amount of damage taken by the hero's troops in combat.
Basic Armorer Basic Effect: Damage inflicted on troops is reduced by 5%.
Advanced Armorer Advanced Effect: Damage inflicted on troops is reduced by 10%.
Expert Armorer Expert Effect: Damage inflicted on troops is reduced by 15%.
Artillery
Gives the hero manual control over their ballista, increases its number of shots per round, and increases the ballista's chance of dealing double damage.
Basic Artillery Basic Effect: Ballista shots have a 50% chance of dealing double damage.
Advanced Artillery Advanced Effect: Ballista shots have a 75% chance of dealing double damage.
Expert Artillery Expert Effect: Ballista shots deal double damage.
Ballistics
Gives the hero manual control of the Catapult and increases its number of shots, accuracy, and damage.
Basic Ballistics Basic Effect: A Catapult lobs one shot with a 60% chance to hit the intended target wall. Chances to inflict maximum damage are 50%. Until all siege walls are destroyed, chances to hit arrow towers or the drawbridge is less than 60%.
Advanced Ballistics Advanced Effect: Same as basic effect, except the Catapult can lob two shots.
Expert Ballistics Expert Effect: A Catapult can lob two shots for maximum damage, each with a 75% chance to hit the intended target wall. Until all siege walls are destroyed, chances to hit arrow towers or the drawbridge is less than 75%.
First Aid
Increases the effectiveness of the First Aid Tent and gives the player manual control over which stack the First Aid Tent targets. The First Aid Tent recovers damage done to the first creature in a target stack.
Basic First Aid Basic Effect: Regenerates up to 50 HP of the top creature in the target stack.
Advanced First Aid Advanced Effect: Regenerates up to 75 HP of the top creature in the target stack.
Expert First Aid Expert Effect: Regenerates up to 100 HP of the top creature in the target stack.
Leadership
The hero's troops get a morale bonus. Necromancers and Death Knights cannot learn this skill.
Basic Leadership Basic Effect: Morale is increased by 1.
Advanced Leadership Advanced Effect: Morale is increased by 2.
Expert Leadership Expert Effect: Morale is increased by 3.
Luck
The hero's troops get a bonus to their luck.
Basic Luck Basic Effect: Luck is increased by 1.
Advanced Luck Advanced Effect: Luck is increased by 2.
Expert Luck Expert Effect: Luck is increased by 3.
Offense
Increases the amount of hand-to-hand damage the hero's troops will inflict in combat.
Basic Offense Basic Effect: Inflicted damage is increased by 10%.
Advanced Offense Advanced Effect: Inflicted damage is increased by 20%.
Expert Offense Expert Effect: Inflicted damage is increased by 30%.
Resistance
Creates a chance enemy spells cast on the hero's troops will fail and have no effect.
Basic Resistance Basic Effect: 5% chance of spell failure.
Advanced Resistance Advanced Effect: 10% chance of spell failure.
Expert Resistance Expert Effect: 20% chance of spell failure.
Tactics
Enables you to arrange the hero's troops on the battlefield prior to the start of combat.
Basic Tactics Basic Effect: Allows you to reposition your troops at the start of battle, to anywhere within a 3-space column on your side of the battlefield. For more details, read about the Tactics skill on the General Information page.
Advanced Tactics Advanced Effect: Allows movement within a 5-space column.
Expert Tactics Expert Effect: Allows movement within a 7-space column.

Magic Skills

Air Magic
Increases the effectiveness of Air spells cast by the hero.
Basic Air Magic Basic Effect: Air spells are cast at the Basic level.
Advanced Air Magic Advanced Effect: Air spells are cast at the Advanced level.
Expert Air Magic Expert Effect: Air spells are cast at the Expert level.
Eagle Eye
Gives the hero a chance to learn spells cast by enemy spellcasters in battle.
Basic Eagle Eye Basic Effect: The hero has a 40% chance to learn spells of 2nd level or below.
Advanced Eagle Eye Advanced Effect: The hero has a 50% chance to learn spells of 3rd level or below.
Expert Eagle Eye Expert Effect: The hero has a 50% chance to learn spells of 4th level or below.
Earth Magic
Increases the effectiveness of Earth spells cast by the hero.
Basic Earth Magic Basic Effect: Earth spells are cast at the Basic level.
Advanced Earth Magic Advanced Effect: Earth spells are cast at the Advanced level.
Expert Earth Magic Expert Effect: Earth spells are cast at the Expert level.
Fire Magic
Increases the effectiveness of Fire spells cast by the hero.
Basic Fire Magic Basic Effect: Fire spells are cast at the Basic level.
Advanced Fire Magic Advanced Effect: Fire spells are cast at the Advanced level.
Expert Fire Magic Expert Effect: Fire spells are cast at the Expert level.
Intelligence
Adds a bonus to the hero's maximum spell points.
Basic Intelligence Basic Effect: Maximum spell points are increased by 25%.
Advanced Intelligence Advanced Effect: Maximum spell points are increased by 50%.
Expert Intelligence Expert Effect: Maximum spell points is doubled.
Mysticism
Increases the number of spell points the hero regenerates each day.
Basic Mysticism Basic Effect: Spell point regeneration is increased to 2 points per day.
Advanced Mysticism Advanced Effect: Spell point regeneration is increased to 3 points per day.
Expert Mysticism Expert Effect: Spell point regeneration is increased to 4 points per day.
Scholar
Allows the hero to exchange spells with other heroes during trading sessions. Spell exchange occurs automatically when the Hero Trade Screen appears. The hero learns spells he or she didn't know and teaches unknown spells to the hero traded with.
Basic Scholar Basic Effect: Teach and learn spells of 2nd level and below.
Advanced Scholar Advanced Effect: Teach and learn spells of 3rd level and below.
Expert Scholar Expert Effect: Teach and learn spells of 4th level and below.
Sorcery
Increases the damaging effects of spells cast by the hero. Effect varies based on the spell cast.
Basic Sorcery Basic Effect: Effectiveness of cast spells is increased by 5%.
Advanced Sorcery Advanced Effect: Effectiveness of cast spells is increased by 10%.
Expert Sorcery Expert Effect: Effectiveness of cast spells is increased by 15%.
Water Magic
Increases the effectiveness of Water spells cast by the hero.
Basic Water Magic Basic Effect: Water spells are cast at the Basic level.
Advanced Water Magic Advanced Effect: Water spells are cast at the Advanced level.
Expert Water Magic Expert Effect: Water spells are cast at the Expert level.
Wisdom
Allows the hero to learn spells beyond the 2nd level.
Basic Wisdom Basic Effect: The hero can learn 3rd level spells and below.
Advanced Wisdom Advanced Effect: The hero can learn 4th level spells and below.
Expert Wisdom Expert Effect: The hero can learn all spells.
